As of Sept. 25, 2022, the " FireInspections Decree," which introduces the mandatory qualification of fire apparatus maintenance technicians and a qualification system, will come into effect, revolutionizing the figure of the maintenance technician.
The Decree states:
- Identification of training subjects;
- Lectureships;
- Training content;
- Mode of assessing requirements;
- Administrative procedures.
The maintenance and periodic inspection of fire safety equipment and systems shall be carried out by qualified technicians, complying with applicable laws and regulations, relevant technical standards, and the Fire Safety Systems Operation and Maintenance Manual.
The National Fire Department will assess the compliance of competencies to ensure minimum quality standards in firefighting.
As of Sept. 25, 2022, only qualified technicians will be allowed to perform maintenance and inspections on fire protection systems and devices.
