WHO: adoption of international pandemic plan by 2024

According to the WHO, it is now necessary to negotiate changes in the International Health Regulations, so as to fill some gaps and manage more promptly and effectively the critical issues that have dramatically emerged during this pandemic that has undeniably caught us unprepared.

The world needs to be better prepared and better coordinated to respond to any future pandemics throughout the entire cycle of detection, warning and response.

The new Pandemic Plan, would ensure greater, sustained and long-term political commitment from world leaders and promote the integration of health issues into all relevant policy areas from surveillance to alert to response.

The benefits would be improved risk surveillance, alert mechanisms, response, and enforcement.

At this point we just have to wait.
