WHO: International pandemic plan to be adopted by 2024

20 June 2023

According to the WHO, it is now necessary to negotiate changes to the International Health Regulations to fill some gaps and more promptly and effectively manage the critical issues that have dramatically emerged during this pandemic, which has undeniably caught us unprepared.

The world must be better prepared and better coordinated to respond to future pandemics across the entire detection, warning, and response cycle.

The new Pandemic Plan would ensure greater, sustained and long-term political commitment from world leaders and promote the integration of health concerns across all relevant policy areas from surveillance to alert to response.

The benefits would be improved risk surveillance, alert mechanisms, response, and enforcement.

At this point we just have to wait.
